Irfan scored 112 as Afridi CC beat UPS by 140 runs while Active IT carved out an easy eight-wicket victory over National Pest Control (NPC) in a low scoring match of the 20-over tournament organised by Dulsco SC, in association with Dubai Municipality and played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council at Zabeel Park, Dubai.
Irfan and Shahzad put on a record first wicket stand of 124 after electing to bat first helping their team to amass 253 for the loss of seven wickets. Afridi CC then bowled out their rivals for 113 in 19 overs.
Irfan hit 11 sixes and five fours facing only 49 balls for his 112. Shahzad scored a 20-ball 58 which included five sixes and four fours. After Shahzad was bowled by Ranjit, Aftab (24), Ihsan (18), Usman (16) and Hashimat (11) made useful contributions to post a challenging total for UPS.
Shazhad T claimed three wickets for 26 runs while Ranjit claimed two for 63 and Basit and Sarshad picked up one apiece.
UPS never came close to the required run rate in their chase and were all out for 113 helped by 22 extras. Only Sarshad 28, Nilantha 23, Zeshan 16 and Irmesh offered some resistance.
