Gambhir guides India to 8-wicket win over NZ

Captain Gautam Gambhir has struck an unbeaten 138 to help India register a comfortable eight-wicket victory over New Zealand in the second one-day international.

The left-hander smashed 18 fours off 116 balls during his eighth one-day century to help India reach its target of 259 with seven overs to spare.

Virat Kohli chipped in with 64 for the young Indian side, which was resting several senior players owing to a hectic schedule.

Earlier, new-ball bowler Shantakumaran Sreesanth bagged 4-47 as New Zealand was restricted to 258-8.

For New Zealand, Martin Guptill struck a defiant 70 off 102 balls and Scott Styris a brisk 59 off 56.
