Bell, diving to his left at square leg in an attempt to catch Junaid Siddique in the 10th over, fell awkwardly as he landed.

The 28-year-old Warwickshire batsman was taken to hospital where an X-ray revealed he’d fractured the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot, according to a statement issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

He could now miss England’s first Test against Pakistan at Trent Bridge, starting on July 29.

England lead the three-match series against Bangladesh 1-0, with Bell having top-scored with 84 not out in the first ODI at Trent Bridge on Thursday.
