Bangladesh had required 306 to avoid being asked to bat again after resuming on 237 for seven, replying to England’s 505.

Steven Finn failed to complete a five-wicket haul on his Lord’s debut and fell to the ground twice after slipping in his follow through during an unsuccessful five-over spell. He finished with four for 100. After play had begun on time following after Saturday’s rain and bad light which allowed only 28.5 overs to be bowled, Shahadat Hossain flourished briefly.

He struck three fours of varying merit before he was comprehensively bowled for 20 by a full delivery from James Anderson.

Anderson followed up by bowling Mahmudullah for 17 and Tim Bresnan finished off the innings with his first wicket of the match when Rubel Hossain was caught at third slip by Alastair Cook for nine.
