Emirates NBD too strong for Team NPC

DUBAI — Emirates NBD just needed 20 minutes and 5.3 overs to defeat National Pest Control (NPC) by 10 wickets in the 9th Dulsco Ramadan Cricket Tournament at the Zabeel Park Grounds, Dubai, a press release said.

This was the quickest and easiest victory in this year’s 20-over tournament organised by Dulsco SC in association with the Dubai Municipality, which is being played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.

Faizan Sheikh scored a 18-ball 57 runs and Roshan A hit 14 from as many balls to race to the 78-run victory in just 33 deliveries. It was the quickest victory as Emirates NBD finished the match in just 20 minutes.

Earlier NPD, electing to bat first, struggled against the Bankmen. Only three batsmen reached double-digit scores. Opener Salman scored 10; Imran added a dozen while Waheed was caught off the bowling of Faizal for 14.

Opener Suneej failed to open his account and joining him with a duck was Jithin. Three batsmen, Vijay, Ranju and Umari, contributed eight each as all the NPC batsmen failed against the accurate bowling of the Bankmen.

Sanish was the most successful bowler for the winners claiming three wickets for seven runs in his two overs. Ranjeet and Farhan bagged two each whilst conceding eight and 16 runs respectively. Faisal and Shadan picked up one wicket apiece.

Emirates NBD bowled out their rivals in 18 overs and reached the target in 5.3 overs. Faizan Shaikh of Emirates NBD was adjudged the man of the match for his half-century.

Twenty-four teams, divided in six groups of four each, are taking part in the tournament with the top two from each group advancing to the knock-out stage after a round-robin league.
