But the margin of victory didn’t reflect the team’s miserable fielding because the butter fingered Super Kings’ fielders dropped as many as four easy catches and made a mockery of a run out opportunity.

A furious Dhoni said: “We have played eight games and every game we are dropping a few. You need to be a little strict. It’s a very basic thing and as it is said when it comes to coaching, catches win matches. Happily, it did not really have a big impact on this game.

”But if you see, we dropped Sachin in the very first game, we dropped AB de Villiers. That has really proved vital in the scenario. So right now it’s okay we are in the league stage, but if we are in the semi-finals and if you drop a a catch off a well-set batsman, you don’t really have anything to blame.”

Dhoni said that it was time for his bowlers and fielders to wake up and give a good performance.

”It’s important the sooner you wake up, the better it is. As is evident, we have generally managed to put 160-plus in all the matches till now. But it’s the bowling and the fielding that is letting us down. The guys must look to put their 100 per cent effort,” he said.
