A huge turnout of people was witnessed at the new Covid-19 vaccination centre which came up on Tuesday on the premises of Ajman Society of Social and Cultural Development in Mushirf area.

Launched by the Ajman Medical District, the vaccination centre will operate from 8am to 10pm.

Hamad Tarim Al Shamsi, director of the Ajman Medical District, told Khaleej Times that the opening of the new centre is aimed to provide the free vaccine to more community members to protect them from the pandemic.

Al Shamsi added: “We are currently focusing on offering services, tests and vaccinations against the coronavirus to social groups that need them the most, especially senior citizens and people with special needs. Medical teams have been formed to communicate with these groups at their homes to provide psychological and health assistance to them and to protect them from any health challenges that they may face due to coronavirus.

Mona Saqr Al Matroushi, director-general of the Ajman Society of Social and Cultural Development, said that the opening of the vaccine centre comes as the Society's priority and concern to support health institutions and participating in enabling them to combat the pandemic.

She pointed out that a comprehensive sterilisation of all facilities of the association has been carried out. Two halls, one for men and another for women were spruced up for the vaccination drive.

"We have provided the tools needed by the medical and nursing staff who will administer the vaccine and will continue to support them until the pandemic is rooted out."
