UAE authorities have administered the Covid-19 vaccine to over 50 per cent of the population.

Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, said during a Press briefing on Tuesday that 52.46 per cent of the target group have been vaccinated.

“The vaccine was provided to 70.21 percent of the elderly and people with chronic conditions," he said.

The UAE has administered close to 7 million doses of the Covid vaccine at over 205 centres across the country.

The UAE administered 89,746 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in the past 24 hours, taking the total distribution rate to 67.43 doses per 100 people.

"This is a positive step that places the UAE among the countries with the highest vaccination rate,” said Al Owais. “It is also an indication of the strength of the medical and health systems in the UAE. We are working hard to succeed in providing the vaccine to 100 percent of our people,” he said.

According to Al Owais, the availability of the vaccines is one of the most important achievements of the country in its battle against the pandemic. He noted that the vaccines are available to everyone free.

“Everyone should join hands, cooperate and take the initiative to vaccinate so as to ensure the immunity of the community and the return to normal life,” he said.
