The UAE has vaccinated 110,471 residents against Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The country's Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said the total doses administered now stands at 5.66 million. This takes the rate of doses per 100 people to 57.31.

A new Covid-19 vaccination centre has opened at Masdar City in Abu Dhabi. The new centre is part of the Mubadala Health network.

The first dose of vaccination is available to Emiratis and residents aged 50 and above, those with chronic illnesses and people of determination. No prior appointments are required for people who meet the eligibility criteria.

Meanwhile, the UAE's active Covid cases have dipped below 8,000 and doctors are crediting the country's aggressive vaccination drive for the feat.

Healthcare professionals said that the country’s robust vaccination drive has been instrumental in keeping the numbers in check. Medics are also hopeful that the country will witness a slump in Covid-19 cases soon.
