All private sector employees in vital sectors and service industries in Abu Dhabi will need to undergo compulsory PCR Covid tests every two weeks.

They can take take the tests for free, according to the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis & Disasters Committee.

The requirement is part of efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 and protect public health.


Weekly PCR tests are already mandatory for unvaccinated government sector staff in the Capital.

Sharjah and Ajman had earlier announced compulsory periodic Covid PCR tests for some workers.

In Sharjah, these included workers in restaurants, cafeterias, cafes and bakeries, who need to take a test every two weeks.

In Ajman, a test must be taken every week by employees of these establishments:

>> Restaurants and cafes

>> Supermarkets

>> Sports halls

>> Salons

>> Labour recruitment offices

>> Food and meal delivery companies

>> Car wash.
