Interacting with beggars is a Covid risk, the Sharjah Police have cautioned residents.
The police urged residents to not deal with or touch them. This will ensure community safety.
"Dealing with beggars directly may result in the spread of diseases. They aim to make money by evoking sympathy from residents," the police said.
Beggars are often seen stopping residents and asking for money, while not adhering to the mandatory Covid-19 measures – no masks or gloves.
They are found at vantage points outside supermarkets, mosques, near bus stands, malls or other stores where they hope to make a quick buck.
The police have requested residents to report beggars in their neighbourhoods, in front of shops, mosques, or other places.
Residents can call (901) or (80040) to report them.
