The UAE will start production of the Chinese Covid-19 vaccine Sinopharm from April.

Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries, also known as Julphar, on Monday said in a statement to Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, where it is listed, that it has signed an agreement with G42 Medications Trading LCC to produce Covid-19 vaccines from China’s Sinopharm.

The Ras Al Khaimah (RAK)-based pharmaceutical company expects to start commercial production of the vaccine in April.

On Sunday, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister, launched the 'Life Sciences and Vaccine Manufacturing in the UAE' --- a joint project by the UAE’s Group 42 and China’s CNBG (Sinopharm) to initiate the first Covid-19 vaccine production line in the UAE.
