The UAE has vaccinated 133,253 esidents against Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
The country's Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said the total doses administered now stands at 1,527,833. This takes the rate of doses per 100 people to 15.45.
The UAE's vaccine administration rates are just second behind Israel globally.
This initiative is in line with UAE's plan to vaccinate more than 50 per cent of the country's population.
Experts in the UAE have said the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in the UAE is a worrying trend, but the curve will flatten as vaccines start producing antibodies. This happens within 14 days after a person takes his/her second dose.
Meanwhile, a top official from the health sector on Wednesday offered promising news when he said the UAE is on track to vaccinate 50 per cent of the population much before the targeted first quarter of 2021.
