Coronavirus: UAE reports 3,491 Covid-19 cases, 3,311 recoveries, 5 deaths

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Tuesday reported 3,491 cases of Covid-19, along with 3,311 recoveries and five deaths.

The new cases were detected through 163,000 additional tests.


More than 23.5 million Covid-19 tests have been carried out in the UAE so far.

The total number of cases as on January 19 are 260,223 while total recoveries stand at 231,675. Death toll rises to 756.

On Monday, Abu Dhabi updated the guidelines for visiting inpatients in hospitals, making it mandatory for the visitors to present a negative result of a Covid-19 test conducted not more than 24 hours before the visit. However, the Department of Health said those with proof of vaccination do not need the test result.

While announcing the Happiness Index of Dubai government entities, Dubai Crown Prince announced that Dubai received a 92 per cent rating for its response to Covid-19.

“Achieving a 92 per cent rating on the index that measures the responsiveness of government entities in dealing with the Covid-19 situation demonstrates our exceptional crisis preparedness,” said Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
