Coronavirus: UAE reports 3,452 Covid-19 cases, 3,570 recoveries, 14 deaths

Dubai - The new cases were detected through 185,502 additional tests.

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Wednesday reported 3,452 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 3,570 recoveries and 14 deaths.

The new cases were detected through 185,502 additional tests.

The total number of cases in UAE as on February 17 are 358,583 while total recoveries stand at 343,935. The death toll rises to 1,055.

The UAE has conducted over 28.6 million tests till date as part of the country's massive screening programmes to combat the spread of Covid-19.

Earlier this week, the World Health Organization reported that the number of new cases of Covid-19 worldwide fell by 16 per cent last week to 2.7 million.

The number of new deaths reported also fell 10 per cent week-on-week to 81,000, it said in its weekly epidemiological update, using figures up to Sunday.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi on Tuesday announced it had shut down 354 businesses after Covid-19 cases were detected among employees and several were found to be violating coronavirus precautionary measures.

Authorities renewed warnings that those violating rules would be strictly penalised for undermining the Capital's efforts to contain the spread of the pandemic.
