The new cases were detected through 148,587 additional tests.

Over 27 million tests have been conducted across the country to date.

The total number of cases in UAE as on February 8 are 329,293 while total recoveries stand at 309,692. Death toll rises to 930.

A new study has suggested that treating severe Covid-19 patients with an anti-cancer drug may reduce mortality and speed up recovery, a new study suggests.

"Our findings suggest that bevacizumab plus standard care is highly beneficial for patients with severe Covid-19 and should be considered as a potential first-line therapeutic regimen for this group," said researcher Yihai Cao from the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden.

Meanwhile, Dubai Police have said residents reported over 1,000 Covid-19 safety violations over the course of a week.

This came after the police issued an open call to residents to report violations of the precautionary measures such as social distancing, wearing masks, and avoiding unnecessary gatherings.

Authorities in the emirate also launched an initiative to vaccinate senior citizen at their homes on Sunday.

The initiative aims to ensure seniors unable to visit medical centres have easy access to the vaccine.
