The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Thursday reported 2,043 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 2,200 recoveries and 10 deaths.

The new cases were detected through 235,564 additional tests.


More than 36.2 million Covid-19 tests have been carried out in the UAE so far.

The total number of cases in UAE as on March 25 are 448,637, while total recoveries stand at 431,773. The death toll rises to 1,466.


The UAE on Wednesday reduced the cost of conducting a Covid-19 RT-PCR test to lowest ever at Dh65 in the UAE capital, the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi said on Wednesday.

Currently, PCR tests are conducted at several public and private clinics and hospitals in the Capital. Also, there are many drive-through screening centres spread across Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi this week also made it compulsory for those working in vital sectors and industries within the private sector to undergo PCR testing every two weeks.

In another development, UAE police warned against fake food and shopping websites that steal cash from victims’ bank accounts have gone up exponentially during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is because people are largely confined indoors and are increasingly opting for goods to be delivered to their homes.
