Authorities have raised more than Dh45 million on the first day of the launch of an initiative that aims to support the government of Abu Dhabi combat Covid-19.
The Authority of Social Contribution (Ma'an), which launched the 'Together We Are Good' programme on Tuesday, said companies, businesspersons and residents offered cash, medical supplies, food and other items.
Ma'an said it received 42 contributions, including in-kind offers like hotel rooms, residential buildings and clinics.
Nearly 200 volunteers - including specialists and skilled workers - phoned to register. Officials said in the first 24 hours of the launch of the initiative, their hotline received 310 calls from people enquiring how they could support the government.
Major contributions
> Dh25m contributed by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank
> Dh12m: Anonymous contributions
> Dh3 million offered by Mohammed Rasool Khoory & Sons
> Dh2 million worth of medical equipment donated by Humaid bin Saeed Al Neyadi and Mohammed Rashid Al Kitbi. They also offered the use of a hospital and more than 30 clinics
> 400 hotel rooms offered by Al Masaood Group
