Planning to take driving lessons in Ras Al Khaimah? Customers and instructors must adhere to strict coronavirus safety measures under new guidelines, while they are now separated by an isolator screen.
Isolators in cars have been installed in training cars at RAK's driving institutes to prevent Covid-19 spread. The decision is in line with the ongoing preventive measures to curb infection and transmission, according to Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, General Commander of the RAK Police.
"All driving lessons are now taken in vehicles where transparent isolators are fitted to separate the trainee from the trainer, and ensure their safety."

"The isolation dividers have been installed in all vehicles of the 40 driving schools operating across the emirate," he added.

"The clear partition, dividing the car into two halves, begins from the windshield stretching all the way to the rear of the car, while sealed to the roof. The same clear partitions have been fitted in heavy training vehicles and buses as well."

Both trainer and trainee must wear face masks and gloves at all times.
"Using hand sanitiser and observing physical distancing are also required," the senior official added, noting that the isolators fitted do not hamper communication during driving lessons.
Earlier this year, RAK Transport Authority had fitted isolators in taxis to ensure social distancing between the driver and the passenger.

Eng Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, General Manager, RAK Transport Authority, said no passenger is allowed on the front seat next to the driver.

"We have started this front seat ban since the very beginning of the pandemic."

All cabs here are sterilized after each and every taxi trip, Al Blooshi stated.
