UAE sends coronavirus aid planes to Argentina and Paraguay

The UAE's aid will assist approximately 7,000 medical professionals in Argentina.

Seven tonnes of coronavirus medical supplies and testing kits have been sent by the UAE to Paraguay.

UAE has provided over 1,385 tonnes of aid to 117 countries, supporting more than 1.3 million medical professionals.

The UAE on Wednesday sent two aid planes carrying seven tonnes of medical supplies and testing kits each to Argentina and Paraguay to support the countries' efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19. This aid will assist approximately 7,000 medical professionals in Argentina and 7,000 in Paraguay as they work to contain the virus.

Commenting on the aid delivery, Hussain Ali bin Hilal Alnaqbi, Charge d'Affairs of the UAE Embassy in Buenos Aires, remarked: "The UAE and Argentina are linked by strong ties, and the leadership of our two countries are keen to strengthen these relations and develop joint cooperation in various fields."

Alnaqbi added: "Today's aid to Argentina comes against the backdrop of the UAE's concerted efforts to extend a hand of assistance to friendly countries in support of their efforts to fight Covid-19. The UAE hopes that such aid will contribute to strengthening the capabilities of healthcare professionals in Argentina while providing the necessary protection as they combat the virus."

Commenting on the aid delivery to Paraguay, Alnaqbi added: "Paraguay represents an important part of the UAE's strategy to strengthen and expand relations with South American nations, for which the UAE is looking forward to building bridges of cooperation with Paraguay in various fields. Today's aid to Paraguay affirms the keenness of UAE's wise leadership to develop and solidify bonds of friendship on all levels with Paraguay, particularly in the health sector, by offering the necessary protection to medical professionals as they combat Covid-19."

To date, the UAE has responded to the Covid-19 crisis by providing over 1,385 tonnes of aid to 117 countries, supporting more than 1.3 million medical professionals in the process.
