UAE Covid vaccine: Over 4.5 million doses administered
Vaccine focus over the next 4-6 weeks to be on the elderly, those with chronic diseases.
The UAE has vaccinated 113,495 residents against Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
The country's Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said the total doses administered now stands at 4.5 million. This takes the rate of doses per 100 people to 45.77.
On Monday, Facebook announced it would expand a list of false health claims it bans from the platform to include debunked claims about vaccines in general, such as that they are toxic or cause autism.
The social media company said in a blog post it was increasing the types of false claims about the coronavirus, its vaccine and other vaccines that it will remove, including that Covid-19 is a man-made virus, and that vaccines are dangerous. Such claims are already prohibited in ads on the platform.
Meanwhile, doctors in the UAE have strictly advised residents against crowding at vaccination centres.
They are advised to call the health facility or arrive at the clinic only after their appointment to take the jab has been confirmed.
This is to prevent the risk of contracting Covid-19 in crowded areas and queues, authorities said.
