UAE Covid vaccine: Dubai inmates start getting the jab

Dubai - Inmates hailed the smooth vaccination process.

Inmates in Dubai have started taking the Covid-19 jab as the police continue their vaccination drive, in support of the UAE’s campaign to inoculate over 50 of the population by the end of March.

The Covid-19 vaccine has been made available at the emirate’s correctional and penal institutions and shall be given to inmates who wish to receive it, the Dubai Police said. The initiative comes as senior officers, cops, and other civilian employees continue to come forward for the jab.

Prisoners thanked the Dubai Police for the drive, hailing how easy the vaccination process was. They also expressed their gratitude to the jails’ medical teams who guided them throughout the procedure and carried out the necessary tests.

Last week, inmates in Abu Dhabi were also given the opportunity to get vaccinated after the Ministry of Interior had set up a dedicated centre within the Federal Punitive and Correctional Establishments in the Capital.
