The youngsters entered the tournament without their UAE jerseys, but what they didn’t lack was the motivation to perform for the country
As the UAE scales up its vaccination drive, firms and organisations heed the call — proving that they are one with nation. In this new daily column Best Practice, Khaleej Times features a company that has gone all out in supporting the drive to end Covid-19.
Hundreds of Union Coop employees received Covid-19 vaccine during a drive to support the government’s vaccination campaign.
Union Coop, the largest consumer cooperative in the UAE, had arranged for the Covid-19 vaccination for all its employees, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap).

“We hope to provide Covid-19 vaccine to all of its employees to support the efforts done by our leaders, people guarding the health and safety of the citizens and residents in the country, and the measures implemented to manage diseases and epidemics,” said Ahmed Salem bin Kenaid Al Falasi, Union Coop’s human resources and emiratisation director.
He noted that Union Coop will continue to take all the necessary measures to maintain the health and safety of its employees and the society. “During the first phase, we provided about 360 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine for our employees. The second phase will cover all the employees as the vaccine will be provided to them at the staff accommodation units to facilitate and maintain their health,” said Al Falasi adding that the cooperative society also provides seasonal flu vaccine regularly to its employees.
The retail outlet also carries out regular educational, cultural and medical campaigns to ensure the health and safety of its employees.
Scores companies in the UAE, schools and other establishments have organized group vaccination programmes for their employees and families to protect them from coronavirus.
The UAE had launched the ‘Choose to Vaccinate’ campaign to combat the spread of the virus and protect the health and safety of all community members, citizens and residents.
The government plans to vaccinate over 50 percent of the country’s population against the coronavirus in the first three months of this year. So far, more than four million doses have been administered across the UAE.
