By January 21, all the officers and employees of the Sharjah Police will have taken the Covid-19 vaccine, as the authority ramps up its vaccination drive.

The Sharjah Police have been working with the Ministry of Health and Prevention in administering the Covid-19 vaccines to the team at the Police Science Academy in the emirate.

Major-General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, told Khaleej Times that through the massive drive, they aimed to do their part in keeping the community safe during the pandemic. He said it was their duty to help prevent the spread of the virus.

“We thank the UAE leadership for all its efforts in the war on Covid-19. The country’s authorities make sure that the best international practices are applied in implementing the precautionary measures,” Maj-Gen Al Shamsi said.

By making the Covid-19 vaccines available to all, the UAE protects the health and safety of the community, he added.

Officers who recently got vaccinated said the protection would help them carry out their duties without the fear of getting infected and contributing to the transmission, especially as they are always in direct contact with different segments of the community.

“The employees and officers of the Sharjah Police are one with the country in this vaccination drive,” Maj-Gen Al Shamsi said, as he praised their staff in showing ‘great interest’ in receiving the vaccine.
