The UAE has vaccinated 89,324 residents against Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The country's Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said the total doses administered now stands at 5.37 million. This takes the rate of doses per 100 people to 54.33.

Two Canada-based researchers on Wednesday urged governments to delay administering the second dose of Pfizer Inc’s Covid-19 vaccine, which they said had an efficacy of 92.6% after the first dose, as it was not significantly beneficial in the short term.

The duo posited the postponement of the second dose is a matter of national security, given the current vaccine shortage.

Meanwhile, a team of eight nurses from Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has flown to the US to spend six weeks with caregivers on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The initiative highlights international confidence in Abu Dhabi’s healthcare sector and is in line with the UAE’s continuous efforts to provide assistance to other countries around the world.
