The UAE has vaccinated 31,312 residents against Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The country's Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said the total doses administered now stands at 6.23 million. This takes the rate of doses per 100 people to 63.04.

Busting the popular myth about how coronavirus vaccines can lead to a positive PCR test, Dr Farida Al Hosani, official spokesperson for the UAE Health Sector, recently explained that Covid-19 vaccines cannot cause Covid-19 infections.

“Taking the Covid-19 vaccine cannot be the reason for a positive PCR result, because all the vaccines adopted in the UAE do not contain an active version of the virus that leads to the disease.

"At any cost, the vaccine will never end up making you sick or infected with Covid 19," she'd said.

Sinopharm's clinical trials have shown that its vaccine can reduce the chances of contracting Covid-19 and prevent complications from the disease. However, no one can yet determine how long the protection will last. This applies to all vaccines developed to treat Covid-19.
