Blue-collar workers in Abu Dhabi have been urged by the local authorities to continue adhering to anti-Covid measures following the sudden spurt in coronavirus cases across the country.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality recently rolled out 'For Your Safety' initiative targeting workers in the industrial areas of Mussafah. A civic body team visited them at their workplaces to reiterate the anti-Covid message and renew the call to stick to the prescribed preventive measures.
The municipality carried out the initiative after teaming up with Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company and the Department of Municipalities and Transport.
The team stressed on the need to avoid crowding, follow social distancing, wear face masksi- and refrain from touching the face, except after washing hands with soap and water for 20 to 30 seconds.

The local authorities have so far implemented a slew of campaigns to stymie spread of the pandemic, which includes distribution of posters and temperature checking devices, conducting site visits to create awareness and building running tracks in Mussafah's ICAD area to ensure fitness of workers.

The industrial areas have also seen massive national disinfection and Covid-19 testing programmes covering each sector of various blocks. One of the ongoing campaigns by the municipality - in cooperation with the General Women's Union - helps provide cold water, juices and umbrellas to municipal workers, who perform their jobs in the sweltering heat.
The Suqya initiative is carried out on Monday and Wednesday every week (until the end of September), benefiting 1,500 workers toiling during hot weather conditions on municipality facilities.
