As part of its continuous efforts to control the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sharjah on Monday announced the closure of all salons in Sharjah until further notice.

In coordination with the Sharjah Municipality, the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) ordered the closure of all gents and ladies salons, an official from the SEDD told Khaleej Times.

"The increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases prompted us to take immediate action in this regard," the official said.

The salons are not a safe place in the current situation as customers gather and wait their turns at the shop. The workers of the salons also could transmit the virus to customers, which would cause more spreading of the disease among their family members and other contacts. All the salons were given a circular, instructing them to close down immediately.
