Saudi Arabia mourned the death of Pakistani surgeon, Dr Naeem Chaudhry, who died in Makkah after he developed health complications due to Covid-19.
Dr Chaudhry is the first doctor in the Kingdom to have succumbed to the contagion he contracted while treating coronavirus patients.    
According to reports in Arab News, the surgeon died two days ago at the Hira General Hospital in Makkah where he worked.

Dr Wael Hamzah Mutair, director-general of Makkah Health Affairs, said the Kingdom's medical fraternity is saddened by Dr Chaudhry's death as the city lost one of its most skilled and prominent general surgeons.

While paying tribute to Dr Chaudhry, Dr Mutair confirmed that he had contracted the virus while treating patients and that his only existing health ailment was high blood pressure.

Dr Chaudhry is survived by his wife and three daughters, who live in Makkah.
