Returning to UAE? Undergo quarantine or face Dh50,000 fine
Dubai - The fine also applies to those refusing to take the test again as per health protocols or implementing preventive measures.
As per the updated Resolution No. (38) of 2020 on enforcement of penalties for violations following the Cabinet Resolution No. (17) of 2020 to contain the spread of Covid-19, Dh50,000 fine will be imposed for non-compliance with home quarantine instructions as per the home quarantine manuals, and quarantine at private facilities determined by competent authorities. This also goes for those refusing to take the test again as per health protocols or implementing these measures.
Among the important measures for returning UAE residents, the NCEMA and Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship stated that all residents returning to the UAE must complete a Covid-19 pre-examination at an accredited laboratory. Currently, accredited laboratories are located in 106 cities across 17 countries worldwide. (More information about these guidelines can be found here)

The authority said that passengers will be directed to either self-quarantine at home or sent to a quarantine facility, at their own expense. However, in certain circumstances, the companies by which the returning individuals are employed shall bear all costs related to the medical examination and quarantine.
Also, the authority stated that residents returning to Abu Dhabi will be required to download Al Hosn app, while those heading to Dubai should have the Covid-19 DXB Smart App on their smartphones. The apps are free and can be downloaded from Android and Apple app stores, allowing authorities to monitor their health whilst in quarantine and maintain the safety of society.
