Medical body advises citizens not to panic and urges them to maintain proper hygiene
The Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department (SIAD) is continuing its intensified sterilisation campaign at all mosques as part of the precautionary measures being implemented across the country to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Though a date for reopening the places of worship has not been specified, the campaign has been undertaken to ensure the safety of worshippers when they come back after restrictions are eased.
The SIAD has started sanitising all its offices, related facilities, and Quran centres in various parts of the emirate. It is also carrying out cleaning in the mosques' parking lots and outdoor areas as per the prescribed norms. The department has stepped up inspections in the mosques to ensure they comply with the highest standards and requirements.
SIAD carries out specialised maintenance and partial preventive maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, and AC upkeep, in a number of mosques.
The department is also currently supervising completion of the construction of a number of mosques in the suburbs and other regions of Sharjah.
SIAD organised a slew of workshops to educate imams on anti-Covid measures as well. It will continue to educate the people on the precautions with guidance from the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the official pointed out.
