There is a new policy for issuance of tickets for special repatriation flights to Pakistan from the UAE, the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi has said.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has introduced new measures for stranded nationals in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to book tickets in a hassle-free manner.

"People can obtain tickets through authorised travel agents, PIA website www.piac.com.pk and PIA App instead of visiting the embassy or the PIA office," the mission said.

The app will allow passengers to book tickets through smartphones. Expats are urged not to visit the embassy or the PIA office due to restrictions imposed by the local authorities.

"Tickets are available with all IATA/PK virtual agents and passengers can contact their preferred agents."

Airfare fixed

The government of Pakistan has also fixed airfares for special flights.

Economy class tickets cost Dh1,110 each while business class tickets are available at Dh2,200 for flights from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Faisalabad and Multan. However, for Karachi flights, an economy class ticket is priced at Dh1,000 and business class at Dh1,900.

The embassy has urged people to report instances where extra charge is demanded on air fares.

"If any selling outlets overcharge, please feel free to contact on 111-786-786 or send an e-mail to: complaints@pakistanembassyuae.org, or PIA offices at info@piac.aero or khidwpk@piac.aero," the embassy said.
