More than 1,700 Sharjah Municipality employees and 500 Souq Al Jubail vendors will be tested for Covid-19 in the second phase of the screening programme, the Sharjah Medical District has said.
The first stage of the initiative - implemented by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) in cooperation with the Sharjah government and the Sharjah Committee for Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management - included home testing for 28 senior citizens and 19 of their sitters to ensure their safety, as well as to provide the best levels of health care to protect the health of the people and to enhance the safety of individuals and to contain the pandemic.
"We have a medical team dedicated to the epidemiological investigation of infected cases and their contacts and the conduction of a survey to classify cases and coordinate isolation or quarantine for them. Kuwait Hospital and Khorfakkan Hospital have been allocated for Covid-19 patients, in addition to the coordination with private hospitals in the emirate to follow up on cases and ensure the stability of their health status," said Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarouni, director of the Sharjah Medical District.
Four primary health care centres - Wasit, Dhaid, Al Lulueyah, and Family Health Promotion Centre - now receive Covid-19 emergency cases around the clock. This in addition to allocating health centres to follow up with contacts and conduct the necessary checks.
Two teams have been formed from preventive medicine and primary health care to receive the Covid-19 cases from government and private institutions while intensifying awareness-raising campaigns for visitors and employees working in primary health centres and hospitals in the emirate to prevent infection and maintain their safety.
