Competent authorities will be monitoring all public areas across the country for those violating partying rules set by government agencies, announced the official spokesperson of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management (NCEMA).
Dr Saif Al Dhaheri, spokesperson of the NCEMA has warned hefty fines will be slapped on those violating safety regulations. The decisions were taken following a slight increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the country.
He said during a special media briefing on Thursday, “We also confirm that the application of penalties is still in effect, and the authorities are monitoring violations in public places, and control teams will be activated at the state level to ensure compliance with the approved laws and procedures.”
He said, “In the past few days, we have seen an increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the state and we call upon UAE residents to adhere to the precautionary and preventive measures.”
Al Dhaheri added, “This evening, the UAE is witnessing many events and celebrations to welcome the new year, so let us all celebrate and commit to abiding by all precautionary measures and instructions accompanying these events, so that we and our families and our loved ones can celebrate safely.”

He urged all UAE citizens and residents to adhere to precautionary and preventive measures announced by the health sector since the beginning of the crisis, especially during the holidays and celebration season.
Wear masks, conduct periodic health checks
“Wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing norms must be strictly followed to limit the spread of the virus,” added Al Dhaheri.
“We also remind our people of the importance of adopting periodic checks for the family to protect the health and safety of everyone, in addition to domestic workers, especially after their visits or going to official celebrations,” he stated.
On a closing note, he said, “Today, we are welcoming a new year, which we begin with more strength and determination to eradicate this epidemic, with the solidarity and commitment of everyone residing in the UAE, who have been the best supporters of the first line of defense throughout this crisis.”
