“This is to be expected, but it is important to continue efforts to identify any changes in the components or characteristics of the virus through health monitoring and follow-up systems,” said Dr Farida Al Hosni, spokesperson for the UAE health sector, as she addressed the weekly Covid-19 briefing on Tuesday.
She added that it is important to follow the mutations and the extent to which they affect the transmission and severity of the disease. “The vaccine is considered as one of the most important solutions available to reduce the impact of the disease and the severity of its spread.”
She assured residents that the country is well-prepared to deal with the virus.
"The health sector in the UAE has proven its ability to deal with the virus, and the ability to control it. This is done by increasing capabilities and the capacity of hospitals, health centres and laboratories, as well as having a proactive approach in establishing screening centres and field hospitals."
