Abu Dhabi - A document detailing guidelines for reopening has been sent to all schools.

With the Capital's schools given the green light to reopen after the summer break, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) has issued a comprehensive safety guide to fight the spread of Covid-19.
Adek on Tuesday confirmed to Khaleej Times that all students, teachers and administrative staff at Abu Dhabi private schools must be screened for the virus prior to their return to campuses in September.

A document detailing guidelines for reopening has also been sent to all schools. Here are some of the main points:
Before reopening
> School staff who may be flying in must be in the UAE at least 14 prior to their first day of work
> Parents of students who are travelling must ensure they return to the country 14 days prior to school reopening
> Staff, parents and students must download the AlHosn app for contact-tracing
> Recent travel history should be declared
> Schools must establish a Covid-19 task force
The Covid-19 task force checklist
> Conduct all assessments
> Ensure all staff members have undergone Covid tests
> Make sure social distancing signs have been put up and all safety equipment are installed
> Check all other spaces on campus
> Train school staff
> Communicate with parents on reopening plans and protocols
Upon Reopening
> Masks are mandatory and may be removed only during lunchtime, provided that social distancing is maintained
> Students may be accompanied by a maximum of two parents/guardians while waiting outside the campus
> All accompanying guardians must wear masks
> Temperature checks must be done
Safety at every corner
In the classroom
A hand-gel dispenser (preferably contactless) should be installed at the entrance. Students and teachers should sanitise their hands when entering and leaving the class. A box of disinfectant wipes should also be placed on every teacher's desk.
At restrooms
The number of students using the restroom at any given time must be limited to ensure social distancing. The maximum capacity should be clearly indicated on each restroom door
At play areas
Students shall take regular supervised breaks (preferably outdoors), but break times should be staggered to crowds.
In the library
Schools are recommended to close libraries and provide online resources where possible. Those closed can be converted into additional classroom space.
Prayer rooms
Students and teachers must bring their own prayer mats which must be properly stored at school and cleaned regularly.
Sports facilities
All students are highly encouraged to participate in non-contact sports.
