It was a test, and we passed: Sheikh Mohammed to UAE students
Schools in the UAE were directed in March to close their campuses as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19.
Students in the UAE received an unexpected and extraordinary gift at the end of the academic year today - an inspiratonal and heartfelt video message from none other than His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
In a video tweet on Thursday, Sheikh Mohammed sent out a message of appreciation for the students, their parents and the faculty for their diligence and dedication during "an unprecedented academic year".
"Dear students, an unprecedented academic year has ended... a test for us all, but we passed. Thank you for your diligence," he said.

Sheikh Mohammed went on to thank the "parents, dedicated teachers" and the team of the country's Ministry of Education.
He ended with wishes for a good break, saying, "Have a happy holiday & see you next year in the best of health & success."
In March this year, all schools in the UAE were directed to close their campuses as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19.
Education facilities immediately reworked their teaching models in order to take classes online and e-learning was swiftly implemented across the country.
Last month, Minister of Education Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi confirmed that the next UAE academic year will begin on August 30.
Schools across the country are now in the process of ensuring that all safety measures and precautions are in place to make on-site learning a possibility when they reopen for the next academic year.
