A hospital in the US is offering it’s staff members a bonus of $500 (Dh1,850) if they take the Covid-19 vaccination.
In a letter issued to staff recently, Dr. Marc Boom, president and CEO of Houston Methodist, said the bonus will be given to employees in early March, but they have to meet certain criteria.
"Eligibility criteria will include getting a Covid-19 vaccination, fulfilling (Houston Methodist's) obligation as health care workers to lead the community,” Boom wrote in his note to staff members of the hospital.
Called ‘Hope Bonus’, the email sent by Boom last was addressed to employees as a thank you note for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Texas hospital has been administering Covid-19 jabs to employees since December 15, but Bloom in his note said the jab was not mandatory for staff. Employees also received a $500 bonus earlier in November for their work during the pandemic.
