Dubai has demonstrated remarkable success in containing the Covid-19 pandemic and reopening all economic activities amid strict safety measures. Majority of the businesses in the emirate adhere to all precautionary measures designed to keep staff, residents and tourists safe from the coronavirus.
In line with this, social gatherings are allowed in the emirate, but they must be socially distanced. In this explainer, Khaleej Times lists down all the safety measures you must keep in mind as you gather with your loved ones.
>> Private gatherings
Home parties are allowed in Dubai, but they must be limited to 30 guests. The penalty for social gatherings that violate this rule is Dh50,000 for the host and Dh15,000 for each attendee.
>> Wedding receptions/social gatherings
A maximum of 200 people are allowed at gatherings organised in halls, hotels and tents. The rule is one person per four square metres of venue space.
>> Things to keep in mind
- Attendees should refrain from all physical contact including shaking hands, hugging and other such traditional greetings.
- Guests must wear their face masks at all times and remove them only when they are seated at their table.
- A maximum of five guests are allowed per table.
- Attendees should avoid sitting face-to-face or in close proximity to others. They must maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 metres from others.
- Tables should be placed at least two metres apart.
- The duration of events at halls, hotels, homes, temporary venues and tents should not exceed four hours.
- Elderly people and those with chronic conditions are advised not to attend social functions.
- Any person experiencing symptoms such as coughing, or fever should avoid attending gatherings.
