Effective Friday, February 5, the eateries are to shut by 12 midnight, the department said. They will be able to offer home delivery services after this time.
The emirate further tightened rules on Monday to limit gatherings - the Department of Economic Development announced new guidelines for cafes, snack shops (cafeterias), restaurants and other eateries to reduce dine-in capacity to 50%, 'while ensuring the commitment of workers and customers to the precautionary procedures and measures previously approved, especially wearing masks and keeping a social distance of two meters from all directions.'
The move comes days after authorities in Dubai told eateries to shut shop by 1am. Dubai has also implemented multiple other Covid safety measures.
