According to the Umm Al Quwain Government Media Office, the tests will be offered free of charge in all medical centres of the department.

No appointments will be required prior to the visit either, the department added.

Rising infection rates across the country have pushed authorities in Umm Al Quwain as well as other emirates to implement strict monitoring and inspections of precautionary measures.

On Friday, the Emergency and Crisis Management team in Umm Al Quwain announced that it was launching tougher inspection campaigns in a crackdown against violators of health and safety protocols, especially against those flouting regulations for social gatherings.

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Friday reported 3,251 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 3,860 recoveries.

Fourteen deaths were also reported.
