The third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has hit Pakistan, with positivity rate nearing 10 per cent.
This prompted the Pakistan government to increase awareness among its citizens about the coronavirus and precautions to be taken. It has roped in the country’s top stars to urge residents to take precautionary measures.
The latest data from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) revealed that Pakistan carried out 40,946 tests in the last 24 hours, of which 3,876 tested positive.
This took the national positivity rate to 9.5 per cent. As many as 42 people lost their lives due to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 13,799.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country has reached 623,135, while active cases stand at 27,188.

The Ministry of National Health Services of Pakistan roped in top film and TV celebrities to increase awareness among residents about the precautionary measures to be taken.
Mahira Khan, Adeel Hussain, Bilal Abbas and Iqra Aziz urged their fans to wear masks and take other safety measures to contain the spread of the virus.
“Let’s defeat corona together,” said Mahira Khan.
Iqra Aziz urged people to maintain a six-feet distance and avoid going to crowded places.
