Covid: Abu Dhabi tests up to 10,000 swabs from around the world every day

Helping the world beat Covid-19, Abu Dhabi has been providing testing support to different countries, processing up to 10,000 imported samples per day.
In a tweet posted on Thursday, the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office (ADMO) said: “Reflecting Abu Dhabi’s contribution to collaborative global efforts to combat Covid-19 and highlighting the emirate’s world-class testing capabilities, Abu Dhabi’s health sector is processing imported PCR test samples in its world-class laboratories.”

Efforts are overseen by the the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi (DoH). And with the support of Etihad Airways, Agility Abu Dhabi and Unilabs, about 5,000 to 10,000 Covid samples are flown in from around the world, with results being provided within 24 hours.
Twenty-two laboratories have been designated for Covid-19 testing. They have the capacity to process 170,000 samples per day and even give results within four hours, officials said.
