An isolation capsule designed to transport Covid-19 patients and those suffering from infectious diseases by air ambulance has been launched, the Abu Dhabi Police announced on Friday.
The region's first-of-its-kind medical isolation system will help contain the spread of the virus and other diseases, top officials said.
Colonel Pilot Obaid Mohammed Al Shemeli, deputy director, Abu Dhabi Police Aviation Department, noted that the new system was a reflection of the UAE leadership's keenness in providing best possible service to the society.

"In line with the precautionary measures being taken by the UAE to combat Covid-19 pandemic, and with the support of Abu Dhabi Police's Central Operations Sector, the aviation department launched an isolation capsule designed to transport patients with infectious diseases by an air ambulance. The capsule is the first-of-its-kind in the region."
Dr Ali Saif Al Dhouri, Abu Dhabi Police, added that the system will serve a greater purpose in the future than just the ongoing pandemic.
"The capsule is a full medical isolation system that prevents transmission of infection from a patient to others, be it family members or paramedics. The capsule can be used for all types of infectious diseases and is not restricted to Covid-19."
