Covid-19: Bahrain authorises Sputnik V as fourth vaccine

Bahrain has authorised Russia’s Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use, the kingdom's state news agency said on Wednesday.

This will be the fourth vaccine it plans to roll out as part of its national vaccination programme. The Gulf country already uses the Pfizer/BioNTech, Sinopharm, and Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines.

Bahrain on Tuesday registered 759 new daily infections, slightly above a record hit in September.

Effective Thursday, February 11, it will ban prayers at mosques for two weeks, it had announced earlier.
