The development comes following a circular by Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development urging owners of commercial and industrial facilities in the Capital to ensure preventive measures are implemented. The circular calls upon all workers to 'subject themselves to medical screening for Covid-19'. The new requirements are in line with directives issued by National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and Ministry of Health and Prevention to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Thousands screened so far
Line Investments, a shopping mall division of LuLu Group that operates Al Wahda Mall, Khalidiyah Mall, Mushrif Mall and more in Abu Dhabi, has reinforced its sanitisation process. Wajeb Khoury, director, Line Investments, said: "We are working closely with various government authorities to implement highest standards of health and safety measures. Each and every touch-point and nook and corner of our malls are being deep-cleaned and sanitised to ensure the safety of our customers and staff."
Additionally, medical check-ups are conducted for employees of mall and tenants in coordination with SEHA at their designated Covid-19 testing centre. And more than 5,000 staff have been screened so far.
"I urge them to follow all the safety protocols such as social distancing, wearing of masks and gloves whenever they go for shopping."
