Coronavirus: UAE reports 3,123 Covid-19 cases, 4,892 recoveries, 13 deaths

Dubai - Over 28.2 million tests have been conducted to date as part of the country's screening programme to combat Covid-19.

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Monday reported 3,123 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 4,892 recoveries and 13 deaths.

The new cases were detected through 162,774 additional tests.

The total number of cases in UAE as on February 15 are 351,895 while total recoveries stand at 336,731. The death toll rises to 1,027.

The UAE has conducted over 28.2 million tests till date as part of the country's massive screening programmes to combat the spread of Covid-19.

New Zealand’s biggest city went into a snap lockdown yesterday after it discovered a coronavirus outbreak that involved the more transmissible UK variant, health officials confirmed on Monday.

Auckland’s nearly 2 million residents were plunged into a new three-day lockdown on Sunday after three new Covid-19 cases were detected in the city. It is the first time the strain has been detected locally.

On Sunday, Ras Al Khaimah announced schools in the emirate would go 100 per cent online — making it the fourth in the UAE to do so in a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

This comes as Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah and Ajman also announced similar measures earlier this month.

Authorities in Ajman on Sunday further said it will postpone all activities in the first quarter of 2021 until further notice.
