Coronavirus: UAE reports 3,025 Covid-19 cases, 4,678 recoveries, 18 deaths

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Thursday reported 3,025 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 4,678 recoveries and 18 deaths.

The new cases were detected through 195,866 additional tests.

Over 30 million tests have been conducted across the UAE to date as part of the country's massive screening programmes to combat the spread of Covid-19.

The total number of cases in UAE as on February 25 are 381,662 while total recoveries stand at 375,059. The death toll rises to 1,182.

The total number of global Covid-19 cases has topped 112.5 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 2.49 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

In its latest update on Thursday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the US is the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths.

Brazil, meanwhile, currently accounts for the second highest number of Covid-19 fatalities. It is followed by Mexico in third place and India in fourth.

Closer to home, Abu Dhabi has been providing Covid-19 testing support to multiple countries, processing up to 10,000 imported samples per day, as part of its commitment to help the world beat the pandemic.

The Department of Health in the Capital on Thursday confirmed about 5,000 to 10,000 Covid samples are flown in from around the world every day, with results being provided within 24 hours.
