Coronavirus: UAE reports 2,692 Covid-19 cases, 1,589 recoveries, 16 deaths

Dubai - Over 31.2 million tests have been conducted in the UAE to date to combat the spread of Covid-19.

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Wednesday reported 2,692 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 1,589 recoveries and 16 deaths.

The new cases were detected through 218,351 additional tests.

Over 31.2 million tests have been conducted across the UAE to date as part of the country's massive screening programmes to combat the spread of Covid-19.

The total number of cases in UAE as on March 3 are 399,463 while total recoveries stand at 385,587. The death toll rises to 1,269.

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday announced that pilgrims who wish to perform Haj this year will need to prove that they’ve been vaccinated against Covid-19.

The government says it will consider coronavirus vaccination as “the main condition for participation” in the pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah.

Meanwhile, Dubai has expanded its Covid-19 vaccination campaign. It will now include residents aged over 40 years with Dubai-issued visas; and some categories of people from other Emirates and Gulf nationals.
