Contact tracing of earlier Covid-19 patients has helped the UAE identify 53 new cases of coronavirus infection, the country's Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) confirmed on Tuesday.
This brings the total number of cases in the country to 664.
The ministry noted that, unfortunately, the new cases include those that did not adhere to the guidelines and preventive measures, such as physical distancing, in addition to those that contracted the illness while abroad.
MoHAP also announced the death of a 67-year-old Asian, who had pre-existing illnesses including heart disease, blood pressure and diabetes, which led to complications and his demise. The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at six.
The new cases include 31 from India, four Emiratis, three from the UK, two each from Egypt and Nepal, and one each from Algeria, Lebanon, Pakistan, Iran, Kuwait, Switzerland, Turkey, the Philippines, Italy, France, and America.
All patients are now stable and receiving necessary treatment.
